DIARY NOTES
David Knopfler

Ludwigsburg: 28 09 04

Scala Theatre: Beautiful old red seated theatre - wonderful catering - nice promoters - very solid - lovely sales assistant. Great show with lots of encores. Good start to tour.
Amazing Carlos came to the concert with his transducer and gave me a free one - Thankyou Carlos!! Also he generously brought his wonderful technician who fixed Pete’s bass and tried to balance my gorgeous Taylor's light top E some more. Gallileo generously showed up to lend support and joined us on stage for a fine impromptu rendition of "Stand By Me"

Day two - Mechernich-Satzvey
Funky little club next to a castle - Good sold out gig. Recorded the show for SWR. My band said it sounded good in mixing van. Thanks Michael D and Andy! Send me an email Bim!!!

Day Three: Hamburg at the Fabrik. Amilia and I managed to sneak a quick coffee in beautiful Hamburg in the sun before soundcheck... first break in days. There was an Italian girl outside (Hi Raphaella!) who had come all the way from Italy to be there. Hope she enjoyed the show.

Day Four - Blues Garage (run by Henry and Ramona -Whooee!!)
Sold out concert - wonderful hospitality - great solid gig from start to finish. Everyone in really positive spirits.

Day Five - Saturday - Der Speicher club in Schwarin - in the East. SOLD OUT - - Amazing gig. Friends Holm Simona, Marleen and Uwe showed up, Thanks for the specs guys!

Day Seven : Regensburg.

Small club - stage in the corner - GREAT gig - sold out again

Tues:: Oderan - Nice black and ash seats in the city hall - only 250 punters but totally sold out. Cute town. Another great gig

Wed - Nice club gig ... Aschaffenburg - We’ve done this one before - great response and we enjoyed the show. Nice city. Manuela and Sabine (the unofficial DK fan club) showed up with a pink pig (who wants to visit Amilia in LA) and sparklers... Bless them.

Thurs - drove to Minden - nice night off - we all had dinner at El Torro (yummy) with band Amilia and our wondeful crew ... great vibe of collective happiness.

Friday - Minden gig - Played here before - exceptional promoters, yet again - thanks for the excellent food. Wandered round Minden with Amilia and we talked to a nice waitress from the US. 670 punters turned up - sold out again. Perfect end to a perfect tour.

THANKYOUS:

Great tour from start finish: My thanks to ALL the local promoters (and the PA and lighting crews) who worked so hard to make everything work - to Patrik at A.S.S for his belief and hard work, to my terrific, new (and first) German manager Michael Kramer, the excellent Harry Von Harscher, and equally excellent Kai Gessler, my lovely buddy, Amilia Spicer, who sang like an angel, my amazing guys (Harry Bogdanovs, Pete Shaw and Martin Ditcham), all at Edel records, (Marcel and Kerstin for the dinner I was too nervous to eat just before showtime), to those who made sure the stores were all well stocked, and those who made sure the media knew about the concerts, and the many in the media who have been playing the record and writing such positive, generous things about it also - and most of all our wonderful audiences, for making it such a success. Hope to be back soon! THANKYOU!!! DK
